Sara Tas is educated as an art historian and holds an MA in Museum Studies from the University of Amsterdam. An article based on her MA thesis about the acceptance of foreign art at the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris in the late 19^th century was published in the Oxford Journal of the History of Collections (2014). She worked at the Fondation Louis Vuitton and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris before becoming a curator at the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam from 2013-2019.  There she curated exhibitions on 19^th century culture and on contemporary art. Tas published on 19^th century painter Meijer de Haan in the context of the exhibition held at the Jewish Historical Museum Amsterdam, the Musée d’Orsay in Paris and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Quimper (2009-2010) and on the 19^th century Dutch artist brothers Verveer for an exhibition at the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam (2015). She published on the art critic and collector Charles Ephrussi for the catalogues accompanying the exhibitions Renoir and Friends (2017) at The Phillips Collections in Washington D.C. and The Ephrussis. Travel in Time (2019) at the Jewish Museum in Vienna. In 2019 she joined the curatorial team of the Van Gogh Museum where she assists on acquisitions and research and also focuses on the repercussion of the work of Van Gogh in the art of today.
