Impressionnisme

Anne Higonnet is professor of Art History at Barnard College of Columbia University.  She was educated at Harvard College (BA ’80) and Yale University (PhD ’88).  Her doctoral dissertation was dedicated to the art of Berthe Morisot, and she has continued to work on Impressionism ever since, alongside the histories of collecting and of childhood.  She is the author of 5 print books, two book-scale digital sites, and many articles or essays.  Her work has been supported by Getty, Guggenheim, and Social Science Research Council fellowships, as well as by grants from the Mellon, Howard and Kress Foundations. She is a prize-winning teacher and has lectured widely, including in the Live Arts program of the Met Museum. In 2018-2019 she served on the comité scientifique of the Musée d’Orsay Modèle noir exhibition, and contributed the essay on re-writing labels to its catalogue.  In 2019-2020, she was a Radcliffe Institute Fellow at Harvard University.
